Big Oak Forest School offers children aged 6-12 a very special place to be creative, explore, and have fun in our own ancient woodland, located on Snatts Road in Uckfield, East Sussex.
We believe in children having fun by being creative, connecting with inspiring outdoor spaces, and building trust through nurturing, child-centered activities. We are committed to creating a safe, fun and nurturing learning environment. A sense of independence and achievement stems from being part of Big Oak Forest School, in a natural, wild environment. Big Oak Forest School sessions deliver happy, fun experiences that aim to help shape children’s future wellbeing.

“I just wanted to let you know that when I walked into Lucy’s bedroom on Tuesday morning to wake her she literally sprang out of her bed and shouted, ‘hurray its Forest School today’! Normally she is difficult to get out of her bed. It’s lovely to see her so animated and happy to tell me everything you have done. Great work – thank you. It is effective and amazing for Lucy!” (Lucy’s mum, Brighton).
“My son has SEN and social communication difficulties and I wanted to say thank you for inspiring him this week. I’ve never known him to enjoy something so much of the time he spent doing forest school with you. He is so taken with Viking weaving I’m being sent on a wool-finding mission! I wish he could do Forest School every day, he’s so happy. Thank you.” (Brighton mum).
“My daughter wishes she could come to Forest School all the time! The nurturing activities really boost her confidence and she feels totally at home in the Big Oak forest. Thank you so much” (Lewes mum).
“A boy in Year 7 with extreme anxiety has completely overturned his fears following the sessions with Martin and Big Oak Forest School. He now approaches group work with a confidence that he did not have before, clearly a result of the positive attitude encouraged in the Forest School sessions” – SENCO, Brighton.
